Woman, 9-year-old daughter found hanged in Massachusetts

BROCKTON, Mass. - Authorities say a Massachusetts woman and her 9-year-old daughter have been found hanged in the basement of their home and investigators are trying to determine what happened.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said the bodies of 32-year-old Ariana Rosa-Soares and her daughter, Marley Soares, were found Friday morning at their home in Brockton, a suburb about 25 miles south of Boston.

CBS Boston reports family members say the deaths are the result of an apparent murder-suicide, but Cruz says it's too early to confirm that. He says police are reviewing written information found in the home. He says it doesn't appear to be a case of domestic violence.

Brockton and state police are investigating and autopsies will be performed.

Authorities say Rosa-Soares also had an 11-year-old daughter, who wasn't home when the bodies were found.
