Virginia Tech reports shots fired on campus, authorities seeking suspect

There is a report of a shooting on the campus of Virginia Tech. WDBJ

(CBS/AP/WDBJ)  Blacksburg, Va. - Virginia Tech University says gunshots have been reported on campus, and authorities were seeking a suspect.

CBS affiliate WDBJ is reporting that a police officer has been shot. A U.S. official told CBS News shots were fired after a traffic stop.

The university said in a Thursday post on Twitter that the shots were reported at the coliseum parking lot and that people should remain inside.

Virginia Tech's twitter feed describes the suspect "white male, gray sweat pants, gray hat w/neon green brim, maroon hoodie and backpack."

A student gunman killed 32 students and faculty and then shot himself on the Blacksburg, Va. campus on April 16, 2007, in the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history.
