2 Md. teens charged in Girl Scout cookie theft
SEVERN, Md. - Two Maryland teens have been arrested after police say they tried to steal Girl Scout cookies from two girls.
Anne Arundel County Police said Monday that the 12- and 13-year-old girls were selling a wagon of cookies Saturday in Severn. When they stepped away briefly, police say two young men grabbed the wagon, taking off toward a waiting car.
Police say the 13-year-old girl chased the teenagers and grabbed the wagon. The pair jumped into a car and fled.
But a nearby homeowner heard the girls yelling that their cookies were being stolen, got in his car and followed the two teens while dialing police. Police soon after arrested 18-year-old Gabriel Smith and a 17-year-old boy, both of Odenton, on theft charges.
It's unclear whether Smith has an attorney.
