TV Stuntman Dies During Filming

A stuntman apparently sustained a fatal heart attack Tuesday when an airborne truck made a rough landing during the filming of an episode for the CBS television show, Walker, Texas Ranger, producers said.

Another stuntman was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Neither stuntman was identified by the network.

The incident involved a sport utility vehicle that jumped a ramp while being chased at Cedar Hill State Park southwest of Dallas.

Although police said the sport utility vehicle appeared to hit where it should have after coming off the ramp, the 49-year-old passenger died and the driver, 37, was injured.

"We are grief-stricken over our friend's sudden and tragic death," series star Chuck Norris said in a statement released by CBS. "Having worked with us for over 20 years on a number of films and since the beginning of `Walker,' we thought of him not just as an incredibly talented stuntman, but as family."

Norris was not involved in the crash.
