Time for the infamous music round-up on The Feed

(CBS News) The Austin City Limits Festival kicks off today, and while your blogger here wishes he could be there (and has family and friends in attendance sending jealousy-inducing pictures and emails), I can pay tribute to it in my own way and experience it vicariously by featuring one of the singers performing today up first on our Friday music round-up here on The Feed.  Take a look and listen to the brand-new music video for M. Ward's song "Me and My Shadow" above.

The melodic music video was written, produced and directed by Scott Jacobson, and includes some fascinating visuals, an interesting story involving the media, lots of surprise guest appearances and, quite frankly, is just stunning to watch!  I've been a huge fan of M. Ward since his album "Transfiguration of Vincent" hit back in 2003, and it's so good to see him still delivering with his amazing music, lyrics and unique voice almost a decade later.

Next up, as we do each week, we turn now to the lesser known, but by no means lesser talented. This week we highlight an awesome mix of crowd-sourced and professional musicians coming together into a blend of pure joy with a cover of Nicki Minaj's hit song "Starships" performed by Mike Tompkins, the cast of Pitch Perfect (including Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Alexis Knapp, Anna Camp, Skylar Astin, Ester Dean, Hana Mae Lee) and a whole lot of passionate fans. Watch it unfold and come together in the video above.

And as we always do with our third item, we turn now to a music video that has a visual flare or artistic aesthetic to match the amazing sound standard we have here at The Feed. This week is a case of serendipity in the form of a video I happened to come across randomly a few days ago that just happened to also be a suggestion and selection by my colleague (and oftentimes sounding board for the Friday music round-up) Casey Glynn. Check out the visually stunning and joy-inducing music video for the song "Rock It For Me" by Caravan Palace below.

And did you know that the presidential and vice-presidential debates are in full swing? I really hope so (and that everyone is making sure to go the Politics section of CBSNews.com each and every day for the latest political news and information). Last night saw Vice President Joe Biden and Vice-Presidential nominee Paul Ryan face off against each other in a war of words and ideas. And today less than 24 hours later, The Gregory Brothers (aka schmoyoho) have managed to release their own songified take on what went down with this music meets politics meets humor video below. Check it out.

Our last post for the Friday music round-up is always something a bit different from the norm. This week we have for you a very fun, funny and smile-inducing piece of work that pays tribute to fathers in a tongue-in-cheek way.  Watch a bunch of dads from all around the United States singing the song "Part of Your World" from the movie The Little Mermaid posted by YouTube user LifeOfDad in our final selection at the bottom.

And on that note, I hope you all enjoyed this week's Friday music round-up and definitely make sure to keep coming back to The Feed for all your viral (and music) video needs!
