Three Chicago teens charged in deadly attack posted on Facebook

(CBS/AP) CHICAGO - Authorities in Chicago say three teens have now been charged in the fatal beating of a 62-year-old man after they posted a video of the attack on Facebook.

The suspects, identified as 16-year-old Malik Jones, 17-year-old Nicholas Ayala and 18-year-old Anthony Malcolm, have each been charged with first-degree murder in the attack. Ayala and Malcolm are expected to appear in court Monday.

Police say Delfino Mora was attacked in an alley on the city's North Side early Tuesday. A passer-by found him hours later and he was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition. The Cook County medical examiner's office says he died Wednesday afternoon from blunt head trauma.

According to CBS Chicago, police say Jones, along with Ayala and Malcolm asked Mora what he had in his pockets, then punched him in the jaw. Mora, who is disabled, fell and hit his head on the concrete. Prosecutors say Jones had handed one of two accomplices his cell phone before the attack and that the phone was used to capture video of the attack.

Prosecutors say Jones was caught after the video was posted on his own Facebook wall, CBS Chicago reports.

"I feel that's horrible, that's pitiful," the victim's grandson, Leo Plata, told the station. "You had the nerve to do it, and then you're going to have the nerve to upload it? That's like making fun of it."

Mora's family says the father of 12 was disabled because of a workplace injury and was in the alley collecting aluminum cans to earn money for his family.

Jones was denied bail by Judge Adam D. Bourgeois Sunday, CBS Chicago reports.
