The Nominees: Felicity Huffman

This is the year veteran actress Felicity Huffman hit the big time, with twin Golden Globe nominations for roles in the movie "Transamerica" and the television show "Desperate Housewives."

She won the Golden Globe for "Transamerica," and the role also brought her an Academy Award nomination.

In "Transamerica," she earns praise from audiences and critics alike with her sensitive portrayal of an awkward man/woman on a journey of self-discovery.

    Born a man, "Stanley" hopes to undergo surgery to make her the woman, "Bree," who she believes herself to really be. A considerable complication arrives when she discovers she also is a father.

    Born Dec. 9, 1962, in Bedford, N.Y., Huffman is married to actor William H. Macy and is the mother of two daughters.
