(CBS News) The movie sequel to "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is reportedly still in the works and won't arrive in theaters next year.

A source close to the production told Entertainment Weekly that screenwriter Steven Zaillian is still working on the script for "The Girl Who Played with Fire," and production can't proceed until it is finished.

The source added that the film is still moving forward, though there is no information on when it might be released.

Zaillian also penned the script for the first "Dragon Tattoo" film, which was directed by David Fincher and starred Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. That film was released in December 2011.

Craig and Mara are both locked in to reprise their roles in the sequel, EW reports. Currently no director is attached, but Fincher is reportedly the first choice and hasn't ruled out returning to helm the film.
