"The Big Bang Theory" star Mayim Bialik finalizes divorce

Mayim Bialikand Michael Stone have finalized their divorce after nearly 10 years of marriage.

People reports that "The Big Bang Theory" star and her former beau ended their marriage on May 1.

The 37-year-old actress first announced the news last November, writing on her website: "After much consideration and soul-searching, Michael and I have arrived at the decision to divorce due to 'Irreconcilable Differences. Divorce is terribly sad, painful and incomprehensible for children. It is not something we have decided lightly."

The mother-of-two added, "The main priority for us now is to make the transition to two loving homes as smooth and painless as possible. Our sons deserve parents committed to their growth and health and that's what we are focusing on. Our privacy has always been important and is even more so now, and we thank you in advance for respecting it as we negotiate this new terrain. We will be ok."

Earlier in 2012, Bialik, who has a doctoral degree in neuroscience from UCLA, told CBSNews.com about how she and her husband met.

"My husband and I met in calculus class in L.A. True story...," she said laughing. "He and I -- we got married when we were both in graduate school. We had our first son in graduate school and honestly sort of fell in love with parenting and being with our child as much as possible. We both finished our degrees."
