Texas Rep. Ralph Hall hospitalized after car accident
PLANO, Texas - The oldest-ever member of the U.S. House has been airlifted to a Texas hospital due to injuries from a car accident, though a spokesman says the congressman is expected to recover.
Spokesman Ed Valentine says Texas Republican Ralph Hall suffered a hip injury and minor cuts and bruises Saturday when a car turned in front of his vehicle. The drivers were not injured.
The 91-year-old congressman was conscious while he was taken by helicopter to Medical Center of Plano. He is listed in stable condition, reports CBS Dallas. Valentine says doctors expect a full recovery.
Hall had returned to Texas on Friday from Washington, D.C., a weekend routine Valentine says Hall has maintained during 32 years in Congress.
Hall lost a 4th District primary challenge in a Republican runoff election in May and is scheduled to leave office in January.
