Texas boy, 5, accidentally shot in the head with rifle by 8-year-old friend

(CBS/CBSDFW) DENTON, Texas - Denton police said that around noon on Saturday, an 8-year-old boy accidentally shot a 5-year-old boy in the head after he found a .22 caliber rifle in the room where they were playing, reported CBS DFW.

The station said that when the shooting occurred, two grandparents and a teenager were also in the Denton home, about 40 miles northwest of Dallas. 

The 5-year-old was taken first to the Denton Regional Medical Center ED and then flown by CareFlite to the Children's Medical Center in Dallas, where he is currently on a ventilator and in critical condition, according to CBSDFW.
