Suspect surrenders after sheriff's Facebook request

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio - An Ohio man wanted on a variety of charges, including burglary and abduction, turned himself in to authorities after a sheriff's department used Facebook to ask the suspect to "stop by," reports CBS affiliate WBNS.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office first put out an alert for Andrew Marcum on their Facebook page on Tuesday. Several people commented on the post, saying they could provide information about the 21-year-old.

According to the station, Marcum even commented on the post himself, saying, "I ain't tripping half of them don't even know me."

The sheriff's office then responded to Marcum's post, saying, "If you could stop by the Sheriff's Office, that'd be great."

WBNS reports Marcum listened and turned himself in just hours later.

The 21-year-old was wanted on several charges, among them abduction, burglary and assault.

On Tuesday night, after Marcum turned himself in, the sheriff's office posted his mugshot on Facebook along with a message saying Marcum would be "off Facebook temporarily, because there is no social media access in the Butler County Jail."

The post garnered over 3,500 likes.
