(CBS/AP) HOUSTON - A pregnant Houston-area woman has been charged with offering her 3-year-old son for adoption on Craigslist in an advertisement signed "Desperate."

A Houston police officer noticed the ad posted May 1. A subpoena to Craigslist led to release of personal information that helped officers locate 29-year-old Stephanie Redus of Huffman.

According to CBS Houston, Redus' advertisement on the website read as follows: "Hi, I'm trying to adopt out my three year old son. I'm not in a good place in my life and don't feel like I can care for him properly, but I don't know where to start. If you [sic] or know anyone who is interested in caring for him please let me know. I'm a single mom and can't do this. Thanks, Desperate."

A criminal complaint filed Monday charges Redus with misdemeanor advertising for placement of a child. No attorney could immediately be located for Redus, who's free on $1,000 bail.

The station reports Redus admitted to Houston police that she wrote the post, but she never intended to give up her son. She reportedly said she has anxiety issues and can't take medication because she's pregnant.

The boy has been placed with his father.
