Snooki: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie "just doesn't like us"

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was never a fan of MTV's reality series "Jersey Shore," saying it unfairly cast the state in a negative light.

So when Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi got to meet the governor Friday and shake his hand, their exchange was a bit awkward.

Christie and "Jersey Shore" cast members made separate appearances on NBC's "Today" show during filming in Seaside Heights, N.J., to talk about the state's recovery from superstorm Sandy. Seaside is where much of "Jersey Shore" was filmed.

In a later exchange captured on video by the Asbury Park Press, an unsmiling Polizzi told Christie she hoped he would "start to like us."

Christie responded, "Well, we'll do our best."

After they parted ways, Snooki looked at the camera and said, "He just doesn't like us."

She also shared a photo of their meeting on Instagram, with the caption: "Getting told why we are bad for jersey. Amazing."

"Jersey Shore" ended its six-season run in December.
