Cops: Ky. woman kept boyfriend's body in freezer

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. -- A Kentucky woman was arrested Wednesday morning after sheriff's deputies found the body of a man believed to be her boyfriend inside a freezer at her Pulaski County home, reported CBS affiliate WKYT.

Teresa Owens, 51, is charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence, according to the station. Police have not yet officially identified the body, but it was reportedly thought to be that of her live-in boyfriend, Gary Jenks, 68.

Police say they searched the home after his daughter reported him missing.

It's not yet clear how the man died. The body was taken to Frankfort by the Pulaski County Coroner's office for an autopsy to confirm the identity and cause of death, according to the station.

The coroner reportedly said the victim likely died early last month.

According to court documents obtained by the station, Owens had a freezer in the living room, where she allegedly kept the body. The deceased man's arms were tied with several pieces of string, police say. A police report also alleges that Owens poured lye and fertilizer over the body to try to dispose of it and mask the odor, reports the station.

Owens was being held in the county jail.
