Seven charged in murder of Indiana brothers

CHICAGO -- Seven people have been charged in connection with the murders of two teenage brothers who were found shot to death in a wooded area of northwest Indiana in July, reports CBS Chicago.

Antonio D. Lackey, 16; and Arreon T. Lackey, 18, were found shot to death on July 17 in Hobart, Ind. The boys' mother had reported them missing in nearby Merrillville a few days before, according to police.

Police announced on Wednesday the arrests of three of seven suspects who will face charges including murder and kidnapping. David Johnson III, 62; David Johnson IV, 37; and David Johnson V, 19, all of Gary, Ind., are being held without bond, police said.

Three other suspects -- Jen Woods, 33, who is also known as Jeri McCoy; Kiontay Cason, 21; and a 17-year-old -- are not in custody as of Wednesday morning, police said.

Woods is David Johnson IV's wife, and the 17-year-old is David Johnson IV's son, according to police.

The seventh suspect, 26-year-old Michelle Hughes, was arrested July 2 on an unrelated charge and has been in custody at the Lake County Jail, police said. She was served with the murder warrant Tuesday and will remain at the jail without bond.

Hughes is the 17-year-old's girlfriend, according to police.

The brothers were reported missing to the Merrillville Police Department by their mother a few days before they were found, police said at the time.

Hobart police have not released details about how the suspects are connected to the brothers, but scheduled a press conference for Thursday afternoon.
