Searching for a Good Night's Sleep

The Sleep Switch. That's what scientists call the elusive part of our brains that act as the trigger to a deep, restful sleep.

Like millions of Americans, Newsweek journalist Barbara Kantrowitz had no idea how to throw that switch. But her twenty year-long difficulty in getting a good night's sleep drove her to at least talk to some people who know where that switch is. One night in a sleep clinic revealed a hidden world of tossing and turning that kept her more awake than she ever dreamed.

Barbara detailed the experiement and her quest for more information during an interview with UTTM Anchor Melissa McDermott and in her cover story in the July 15 edition of Newsweek.
