Police Sgt. Steve Bowles says Dekraai of Huntington Beach was arrested Wednesday and booked on suspicion of murder.

According to police, Dekraai was stopped by officers about a half-mile away from the shooting scene at Salon Meritage. He surrendered without incident

The shooting occurred at about 1:30 p.m. at Salon Meritage on Pacific Coast Highway in Seal Beach, Bowles said, reports CBS station KCBS.

"Upon arrival we found six confirmed deceased people, along with three critically injured parties, which were transported to a local hospital," Bowles told the station.

After police arrested Dekraai during a traffic stop, officers located the suspect's vehicle and found what they described as multiple weapons in his car, reports the station.

Friends of the salon owner say Dekraai was the ex-husband of a stylist who worked there.

Several local agenies are assisting the Seal Beach Police Department in the investigation. Police said Dekraai's motive is still unclear.
