Salma Hayek to be knighted in France

(CBS) Salma Hayek will soon be knighted in France. The 45-year-old actress is expected to receive the Legion of Honor within the next two months, according to published reports.

People magazine is s reporting that France's President Nicolas Sarkozy said the Mexican-born star will be inducted into the five-tiered honor academy with the grade of Chevalier or "Knight." The honor is typically given to military personnel, civilians and international figures.

Past honorees have included Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford and Robert De Niro.

Hayek is married to French billionaire businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, who happens to be a close personal friend of Sarkozy, according to reports.

Hayek is poised to have a busy 2012. She's voicing a part in the upcoming animated film "The Pirates! Band of Misfits" and is set to appear in the thriller "Savages," alongside John Travolta, Blake Lively and Uma Thurman. Hayek is also attached to the comedy "Here Comes the Boom" with Kevin James.
