Sacha Baron Cohen exits Freddie Mercury biopic

Despite their uncanny physical resemblance, it looks as if Sacha Baron Cohen won't be playing Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury after all.

According to Deadline, Cohen had been eyeing the role, but has apparently removed himself from the film due to creative differences with the rest of the band. Cohen reportedly wanted to make a more R-rated tell-all about the iconic singer, but the band wanted to make it a PG movie about the whole band.

Cohen had enlisted Peter Morgan, David Fincher, Tom Hooper and others to help him develop the film, but none were approved by the band. So as a result of the "creative differences" and the absence of an offer for Hooper (who just worked with Cohen on the Best Picture Oscar nominee "Les Miserables"), a deal could not be reached for Cohen on the Sony Pictures film, which is being produced by Graham King and Tim Headington with Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal and Queen Films.

Tell us, who else should play Freddy Mercury?
