Rx drug thief attacks woman outside Fla. pharmacy

TAMPA, Fla. - Detectives are looking for a man who was caught on surveillance video attacking a woman outside a pharmacy in the Tampa-St.Petersburg area in an attempt to steal her prescription drugs, reports CBS affiliate WTSP.

The attack took place in broad daylight April 8 outside the Trust Pharmacy in Palm Harbor, but although the suspect's face is captured on camera, authorities have not been able to identify him, according to the station.

In the video, the suspect could be seen pacing back and forth outside the building. When the woman exits, he immediately knocks her to the ground and steals her drugs.

Passersby eventually intervened and attempted to subdue the suspect, but the man ultimately managed to escape, WTSP reports.

The station says there's been a string of similar cases in recent months with prescription drugs the end-game.

Detectives told the station that Oxycodone and narcotic addicts will often commit such crimes for a fix.
