Rutgers Spycam Trial: Dharun Ravi to be sentenced today
(CBS/AP) NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Former Rutgers student Dharun Ravi will be sentenced today in a New Jersey court for using a webcam to spy on his roommate kissing another man. A judge will decide whether Ravi will be sent to jail for the spying of 18-year-old Tyler Clementi in the days that lead up to his suicide in September 2010.

Ravi, 20, was convicted in March of 15 criminal counts, including two counts of bias intimidation that could be punishable by up to 10 years in state prison. Prosecutors said that Ravi should be sent to prison but not necessarily for the maximum sentence.
The case turned both Clementi and Ravi into widely known symbols. Clementi was seen as an example of the plight of gay youth in America while the case made Ravi into a symbol of the justice system gone awry in search of someone to blame.
