Royal baby mentioned over 1 million times on Facebook

The royal baby already has a noble following on Facebook.

Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, are new parents of a baby boy. The royal couple's first son was born on Monday afternoon at 4:24 p.m. local time.

According to Facebook, there were over 1 million mentions related to the royal baby within the first hour of the news. These numbers are preliminary, but nonetheless impressive. The social network says it will update the data as some countries begin to wake up and hear of the birth.

The top five nations buzzing about the royal baby's birth in the first hour of the news were:

1. United Kingdom

2. United States

3. Canada

4. Italy

5. France

Women between the ages of 25 and 34 led the pack in royal baby mentions, followed by women 18 to 24 and 35 to 44. Men ages 18 to 24 came in fourth place, while women 45 to 54 rounded out the list.

The name of the royal baby has not yet been released.
