(CBS) On "The Tonight Show" Thursday Roseanne Barr said she's running for president. Of the United States. For real.

"You know, Jay," said Barr, "I decided that since you're the one that got Arnold Schwarzenegger elected as governor of California that I wanted to make my announcement here on your show because I really want to ask for your support. My announcement is that I am running for president of the United States."

After she made the announcement, ticker tape fell from above and then Barr joked she also wanted to be prime minister of Israel.

"I want to represent the taxpayers," she said, "and in fact, I'm choosing the taxpayers as my vice president."

Barr credited Palin with her decision to do a reality show (Barr stars in "Roseanne's Nuts" on Lifetime, about her macadamia and livestock farm).

"I feel like she's stealing my act anyway," said Barr.

Among Barr's platforms are eliminating taxes, forgiving all student loans and eliminating the monetary system in the United States. And she claims she's serious, sending out a tweet about her decision.
