Robert Downey Jr. is Hollywood's highest paid actor

Apparently it pays to be an "Iron Man."

Robert Downey Jr., who starred in 2012's "The Avengers" and this year's "Iron Man 3," is Hollywood's highest paid actor, according to Forbes.

An estimated $75 million in earnings puts him at the top of the list, thanks to the more than $1 billion in earnings from each of his Marvel superhero movies.

Channing Tatumlanded in second place due to the success of Steven Soderbergh's "Magic Mike," which raked in $167 million. Tatum, a new dad, had an estimated $60 million worth of earnings between June 2012 and June 2013.

In third place was Hugh Jackman, who made an estimated $55 million during that time-frame and will bring in more when his new movie, "The Wolverine," opens next week.

Rounding out the top five, according to Forbes, were Mark Wahlberg ($52 million) and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson ($46 million).

Last year, Tom Cruise, 51, topped the list with earnings of $75 million. This year, he's in eighth eight spot, with $35 million.
