Robert Downey Jr. corrects himself: "There's no plans for an 'Iron Man 4'"

Sorry Marvel fans, but don't hold your breath for "Iron Man 4."

Robert Downey Jr. corrected earlier remarks that he would be suiting up for another "Iron Man" sequel anytime soon.

"There's no plans for an Iron Man 4," the 49-year-old actor said on "The Late Show with David Letterman" Tuesday evening. There's no script he said, though he did add that Marvel Pictures "had a plan."

This is an update to a statement on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" earlier Tuesday, when the actor said, "We're in the middle of negotiations." He later added, "Okay, yes" when pressed about the status of the film.

Though fans may not be treated to "Iron Man 4" any time soon, the actor promised Letterman he's still very much immersed in the Marvel Universe.

"I'm going to do other stuff with Marvel. I'll still be involved," he said.

Downey was paid $75 million for starring in the third "Iron Man" film, making him Forbes' highest paid actor of 2014.

His next role is in "The Judge," co-starring Robert Duvall, coming to theaters Oct. 10.

Tell us: Are you disappointed we won't be getting "Iron Man 4" any time soon, or glad Marvel will be focusing on other heroes?
