Robbers hit Calif. pharmacy, grab high-priced drugs

RICHMOND, Calif. - Three masked men entered a pharmacy in the Bay area of California, tied up 2 employees and made off with a bunch of prescription drugs, reports CBS San Francisco.

Police say the suspects had no interest in money, but wanted to pilfer as many prescription drugs as they could from the Point Richmond store -- drugs that are harder to come by given recent regulations, according to the station.

After tying up the employees Friday afternoon, the robbers grabbed the most addictive, opiate-based drugs -- Oxycodone, Oxycotin, and Oxymorphine, reports the station.

Police said a UPS deliveryman walked in while the robbery was in progress and the suspects tied him up, too.

Fortunately, no one was hurt during the robbery, reports the station.

According to authorities, it's the second time the same pharmacy has been robbed for drugs in the past 6 months.

Richmond police are looking for the suspects.

The station reports the abuse of opiates is becoming an epidemic and their scarcity on the street adds to their value on the black market, where they reportedly can sell for anywhere from $10 to $100 a pill.

Authorities are offering a $2000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.
