Rihanna scores first-ever No. 1 album

Rihanna has landed her first-ever No. 1 album with "Unapologetic," which sold 238,000 in its first week, according to Billboard, citing Nielsen SoundScan figures.

It marks her seventh studio album. Her previous six releases made it to the Top 10 but never reached the top slot. It also marks Rihanna's best sales week of all time.

Rihanna reacted to the chart-topping news on Twitter: "#UNAPOLOGETIC just debuted at #1 in AMERICA!!!!! My first number 1 album there!!! Thank you Navy, u deserve it."

She followed that with a second post claiming to be shedding tears of joy.

Rihanna recently wrapped up a major promotional trip, during which she traveled to seven countries in seven days to plug her new album.

As for the rest of the Billboard Top 200 chart, Taylor Swift's "Red" held on to second place with 185,000 in sales, and One Direction fell from first place to third, with 176,000 copies sold.
