Report: Two confess to killing police detective's son

SAN ANTONIO - Two people have confessed to the shooting death of a San Antonio police detective's son, CBS affiliate KENS reported.

The body of Xavier Cordero, 20, was found in a cow pasture in southeast Bexar County on June 18.

The station says it learned Tuesday that he's the son of a city cop.

KENS says that according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), 19-year-old Cameo Marcus Clines, who was taken into custody in an armed robbery case, faces a capital murder charge in Cordero's killing.

Clines' alleged confession comes on the heels of another arrest in the case. Antoinette Martinez was arrested on Monday after she confessed to robbing and then killing Cordero, the sheriff's office said.

The victim was allegedly lured to Martinez's apartment at which point he was confronted at gunpoint and placed in the trunk of his own vehicle by both suspects, according to BCSO.

Cordero was taken to a cow pasture And shot multiple times, authorities said.

Martinez allegedly admitted to the murder when she was taken into custody Monday for a June 12 robbery, the theft of a Burger King's night deposit, where she worked.

Martinez said she and a co-worker planned to make the theft look like a robbery and called San Antonio police to the Burger King saying someone in all black had taken the money. Martinez admitted to fabricating the story and said she knew it was her co-worker wearing all black.

The pair split the proceeds on clothing and food, she allegedly admitted.

KENS reported Clines was taken into custody on Sunday following the shooting of a southeast-side store clerk.

Just after 11 a.m., officers responded to the Shop N Go Food Mart for a reported robbery and shooting. Police said Clines brought a beverage to the store counter and told the clerk at the register he wanted to speak with the manager.

When the clerk said the manager was not available, Clines then allegedly pulled a gun and shot the clerk in the face before running out of the store, police said.

Clines ran to a nearby apartment complex initiating a standoff with authorities before he was taken into custody without further incident. There was no immediate word on the condition of the clerk.

Bond for Martinez and Clines has been set at $1 million apiece.
