Report: Florida mom missing for nearly a week

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Police fear foul play in the case of a mother in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. who has been missing for nearly a week, reports CBS Miami.

Trukita Scott, known to her family and friends as "Kita," was last seen Wednesday, June 25. Her family is desperately seeking answers -- and trying to figure out what to tell her children, a one-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl, reports the station.

Scott's mother and father reportedly became aware something was wrong on June 25 when the kids' school called asking why Scott hadn't picked up her children.

"She'd never leave the kids at school," said Scott's mother, Kengreal Allen Scott. "She would never leave them at school. Leave them with someone she could have trusted, possibility, but never at school."

Investigators in Fort Lauderdale are looking at friends and exes of Scott in hopes of gathering more information, according to the station.

Scott's family tells CBS Miami that Carl Watts, a man police say is accused of trying to kidnap a 16-year-old girl from a bus stop last month, is the father of Scott's little boy. The station says Watts was arrested on the charge and bonded out of jail.

Scott's mother told the station her daughter was afraid of Watts. The mother reportedly said she called Watts the moment she learned her grown daughter was missing.

"He said 'I don't know what you're taking about, I'm with my brother and I'm getting ready to drop him off. I'll call you back,'" Scott's mother recalled him saying.

She said Watts never answered her phone calls after that.

Scott is currently engaged to another man, Al Livingston, with whom she has a 3-year-old girl.

Anyone with information about Trukita Scott's disappearance is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS. Authorities are also searching for her vehicle, a gold Nissan Altima with Florida license plate number BCFX16.
