Prosecutor linked to felon by texts, video, bikini photo?

SEATTLE - A deputy prosecutor in Spokane County, Wash. is facing potential charges of rendering criminal assistance after more than a thousand texts, surveillance video and a bikini photograph linked her to a convicted felon, reports CBS Seattle.

Marriya Wright, 34, has been on paid administrative leave from the Spokane County Prosecutor's Office since April 21 - the day investigators filed a search warrant for the prison cell of Matthew Baumrucker, according to The Spokesman-Review.

Baurucker, 31, a six-time convicted felon, had been behind bars since a March arrest on drug charges. He also reportedly faces a federal indictment on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Baumrucker texted a mobile phone traced to prosecutor Wright 1,280 times between February 6 and March 5, according to recently unsealed court documents, reports CBS Seattle.

After being booked in jail, Wright reportedly visited Baumrucker 10 times between March 13 and April 16, marking the purpose of her visit as "professional," according to jail records. Under a "professional" visit, Wright was allowed to use a special meeting room. According to court documents, no other attorneys or witnesses were present for their conversations, reports the station.

A jail guard who viewed video of the pair's discussions claims to have seen a photograph of Wright in a bikini in Baumrucker's possession-- an observation he reported as odd, according to the station.

No charges have been filed against Wright.

Previous convictions against Baumrucker include perjury, assault and money laundering, according to the station.

Officials overseeing the investigation into Wright's alleged involvement with Baumrucker reportedly believe the case will be handled at the federal level.
