Prosecutor: Breivik expects to spend life in prison

OSLO, Norway - The prosecutor in Norway's twin terror attacks says the accused seemed unaffected by the tragedy he perpetrated during a court hearing.

Anders Behring Breivik has confessed to bombing Oslo's government headquarters and opening fire on young people at an island retreat.

Prosecutor Christian Hatlo told reporters Monday that Breivik was very calm and "seemed unaffected by what has happened."

He said Breivik told investigators he expects to spend life in prison

The maximum prison sentence in Norway is 21 years, but convicts who pose a danger to society can be held after their sentence is up - a virtual life sentence.

The 32-year-old Breivik has said in a manifesto that the killings were "marketing" for his belief that Europe must be saved from Muslim colonization.

Hatlo said Breivik read from the manifesto during the closed hearing.

On Monday police lowered the death toll of Friday's twin terror attacks to 76 from 93, though the search continues for several still missing at Utoya island.
