(CBS News) NBC has picked an actress to play Lily Munster in its reboot of "The Munsters."

Portia de Rossi ("Arrested Development," "Better Off Ted") will play the matriarch in the new version of the classic black-and-white series, titled "Mockingbird Lane."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jerry O'Connell has been cast as patriarch Herman Munster, while comedian Eddie Izzard will play Grandpa. Mason Cook will play their werewolf son Eddie, while Charity Wakefield will play "plain" cousin Marilyn.

Yvonne De Carlo played Lily in the original 1960s sitcom, opposite Fred Gwynne as Herman.

"Mockingbird Lane" is being written by "Pushing Daisies" creator Bryan Fuller. It was originally eyed for this fall's TV slate, Entertainment Weekly reports, but is now being developed for a possible midseason slot on NBC. (THR's report says the project has been pushed to next summer.)
