Poll: Has Business Hacks Changed Your Scheduling Behavior?

A few days ago, we talked about how most people fail to schedule time in their Outlook calendar to do their own job. Instead, they constantly react to meeting invitations from others, and do their business critical tasks in the scheduling crumbs left over by everyone else.

We took a poll and asked you if you block out personal work time. The answers:

  • Almost a third of you said "Never. My schedule is somewhat reactive in nature."
  • About half reported "Occasionally. I block out work time when I have a huge deadline and need to spend time along in my office."
  • And as of the last tally, a mere 20% of you replied "Frequently. My calendar is my own. Everyone else should have to work around the time I need to get my job done."
So there you have it: Only one in five Business Hacks readers regularly assert control over their calendars. With that in mind, I'm curious if this post has prompted you to do a little self-reflection and vow to change the way you manage your time. Here's a new poll for your Introspection Friday.
