People's Choice Awards 2013: White is hot on red carpet

White trumped black and the brighter hues on the red carpet at Wednesday night's People's Choice Awards.

It appeared to be one of the few trends emerging during the first awards show red carpet of the year.

Country star Taylor Swift dazzled in a white floor-length Ralph Lauren gown with a plunging neckline. She wore it with simple turquoise earrings and her blonde hair pulled back. It was a look sure to make many best-dressed lists.

Also wearing white -- but not as successfully -- was "Homeland" star Morena Baccarin and Ellen Pompeo of "Grey's Anatomy."

Another red-carpet standout Wednesday was Naomi Watts in a sleeveless black and gold gown by Alexander McQueen. Jennifer Aniston also looked good in a short, black dress by Dior.

Jennifer Lawrence, usually a red-carpet winner, was slightly off her game in a glittering silver and black gown that made her look as if she had stepped out of a sci-fi movie. Others who could have used a better mirror were actress Olivia Munn in a tiered black and white dress that screamed "picnic" and Kristin Kreuk, whose fussy, two-toned peach outfit looked as if it had been dragged from the back of an aging starlet's closet.

Look at the fashions in the gallery here and tell us what you think. Who was best-dressed? Who had the worst look?
