LAS VEGAS (CBS/AP) Paris Hilton reportedly claimed that the purse that allegedly contained .08 grams of cocaine was borrowed from a girlfriend, but a photo of a black and silver Chanel purse that she posted to Twitter may tell a different story.

Unfortunately for the 29-year-old hotel heiress, it must have slipped her mind that on July 15 she Tweeted a photo of a purse that appears identical to the one she claimed she borrowed the night she was arrested, reports RadarOnline.com.

While police did not take the "borrowed" purse as evidence, the photo could help the case against Paris.

"This is pretty strong evidence for the prosecution," Alex De Castroverde, a top criminal defense attorney in Las Vegas told RadarOnline.com. "Even without the purse, the photo could be good for the prosecution. It could be used to prove that it was Paris Hilton's purse."

David R. Houston, another legal powerhouse in Nevada, told RadarOnline.com that if Hilton were his client he would have advised her not to take the purse when she was released from police custody, and instead let the rightful owner come forward and claim it.

"Depending on the verbiage on the forms Paris signed when she was released from custody and the items returned to her, she may very well have helped the prosecution by claiming she owned the purse."

Paris Hilton and her 34-year-old boyfriend Cy Waits were arrested last Friday in Las Vegas after an officer pulled the couple over when he noticed a suspicious smelling smoke coming from Waits' Escalade that smelled a lot like marijuana.

While Waits was failing sobriety tests, police were dealing with Hilton, who they say accidentally knocked .08 grams of cocaine out of her purse and onto the floor while she was looking for her lip balm.

Waits spent the night in jail and was arrested for suspicion of misdemeanor diriver under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Hilton was arrested for felony possession of cocaine and awaits arraignment, scheduled for Oct. 27.
