"Pacific Rim": Trailer for new Guillermo del Toro film loaded with action

Move over, "Transformers" -- there are some new giant robots in town.

Warner Bros. released the new official trailer for the upcoming film "Pacific Rim" on Thursday, and one might need a sedative after watching the explosion-heavy clip.

The trailer is packed full of adrenaline as building-size aliens blow up cities like San Francisco in scenes from this latest movie by Guillermo Del Toro, the director behind critically-acclaimed films like "Pans Labryinth" and "Hellboy."

In "Pacific Rim,"Charlie Hunnam plays a human pilot who operates a "Jaegar," a man-made giant robot designed to combat the alien invaders. Idris Elba, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman also star.

Perlman already has past connections with some of the cast and crew. He previously worked with del Toro on several projects, most notably the "Hellboy" films. Hunnam and Perlman currently star together on the FX series "Sons of Anarchy" and they also starred together in the 2012 film "3,2,1...Frankie Go Boom."

"Pacific Rim" opens in theaters on July 12.
