Fla. girl, 16, missing, mother's boyfriend arrested

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The search is on for an Orlando teen last seen Monday, and the boyfriend of the girl's mother has been arrested and accused of lying to investigators in the case, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Sixteen-year-old Alexandria Chery was last seen around 7 a.m. Monday, reports the station. Her mother told investigators the girl was still been in bed when she last saw her.

When Chery's mother returned home from work, she said her daughter had vanished -- her clothes removed from her closet and her bedding gone, reports the station.

According to the report, deputies say they found what appeared to be blood spatter on a teddy bear in the girl's room and in a hallway of the apartment.

Chery's mother also said she found a wet spot on the floor of the bedroom and smelled an odor of bleach, reports the station. Police reportedly said a pair of wet male underwear was found under the teen's bed.

On Wednesday, police announced the arrest of Sanel Saintsimon, long-term boyfriend of Chery's mother. Saintsimon was charged with giving false information and attempting to destroy evidence in the investigation, according to the station.

Detectives reportedly said they believe Saintsimon lied to them about cleaning blood in the apartment with bleach, lying about his whereabouts the day his girlfriend's daughter disappeared, and lying to them about the car he used Monday during the time period the girl went missing.

At a Wednesday news conference, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said the girl's disappearance is "extremely suspicious."

"Obviously the worst case scenario is that this individual could have been seriously injured," Demings said, reports the station. "We could be looking at a homicide -- that's not what we're saying at this time -- but that's the worst case scenario."

Alexandria Chery, an active social media user, has also been silent on her Twitter account, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

Saintsimon was reportedly jailed Thursday on less than $8,000 bail. It wasn't clear whether he would bond out of jail.

Investigators believe Chery had been in a black Pontiac found in Pine Hills. The car is being processed for evidence.

The teen is described as black, about five feet, two inches tall and 105 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on Alexandria or Saintsimon's whereabouts on Monday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. is asked to call 407-836-HELP.
