Ohio Dismemberment Killer Gets 15 to Life

An Ohio man who bludgeoned his girlfriend to death with a hammer before dismembering her and scattering her body parts around the apartment complex where they lived has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Robert Knight was sentenced Wednesday in Franklin County Common Pleas Court. The 51-year-old Columbus resident pleaded guilty to murder last month and will be eligible for parole after 15 years.

Investigators say Knight killed 44-year-old Tracey Moore in June after an argument. Police and maintenance workers found her head and arms in his freezer and other remains in his backed-up toilet and throughout the apartment complex and its grounds.

Maintenance workers at the West Bay apartments found what looked like human remains on the banks of a retention pond, reports CBS News affiliate WBNS-10TV in Columbus.

Knight also called a plumber to work on his toilet inside his apartment. Detectives said that parts of Moore's remains were removed from the plumbing.
Inside Knight's apartment, officers found Moore's head in his freezer, Landers reported.

Knight says he's "very apologetic to Tracey."

Moore's brother, Carl Laury, told WBNS after the sentencing that he did not believe Knight's apology.

"I wanted him to know that he took something special from me," Laury said. "We had special moments together, and they're gone. They're gone."
