Obamas attend parent-teacher conferences

WASHINGTON President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are attending parent-teacher conferences for their daughters.

Mr. Obama and the first lady left the White House by motorcade on Tuesday morning for the drive to the private Sidwell Friends School in northwest Washington.

Fifteen-year-old Malia and 12-year-old Sasha are students at the exclusive school.

Mr. Obama is out of the public eye the rest of the day Tuesday, one day after making a speech defending the rollout of the Affordable Care Act exchanges, which have been plagued by tech troubles. The administration has reportedly hired Verizon to help speed up the necessary technical fixes to the site.
