Nurse gets life in prison in death, dismemberment of son

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. - A suburban Detroit woman convicted of killing and dismembering her adult son has been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.

The judge who handed down Tuesday's mandatory sentence says the punishment doesn't seem to be enough for 61-year-old Donna Scrivo.

Bags containing body parts of her 32-year-old son, Ramsay Scrivo, were found last year in St. Clair County, northeast of Detroit. His mother, a nurse, reported him missing a few days earlier.

Scrivo insists a masked man killed her son and held her hostage. She told Judge Richard Caretti she was close to her son and had hoped to be acquitted.

At trial, she said she had problems and wasn't "mother of the year." She was convicted of first-degree murder and mutilation of a body.
