Norman Oosterbroek, former Lady Gaga bodyguard, dies after reportedly breaking into Fla. home

(CBS) PINECREST, Fla. - Police say a former bodyguard to celebrities including Lady Gaga and Jay Z has died after allegedly breaking into a Florida home while naked, fighting with homeowners and resisting arrest, according to news reports.

CBS Miami reports that police say they used a stun gun to subdue Norman Oosterbroek, 43, when he turned violentbut his cause of death remains unclear.

Oosterbroek allegedly broke into a Pinecrest, Fla. home near his own late Monday night and fought with homeowners, who told authorities the he appeared to swallow an unknown substance during the altercation.

The homeowners reportedly told police they came face-to-face with the nude Oosterbroek after hearing a noise in their home, reports CBS Miami. The Herald reports that Oosterbroek allegedly swallowed the substance with one hand and began beating his neighbor with the other.

When police arrived, they allege he turned violent and resisted arrest, and say they used a stun gun to subdue him. Rescue personnel transported Oosterbroek to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, reports the paper.

According to the Miami Herald, Oosterbroek, known as the "Dutch Giant" - he was about 6-foot-five-inches tall and weighed 280 pounds - began his career in South Africa as a bodyguard to Nelson Mandela. He later went on to form an international security firm that became one of the best-known personal security companies in the world and boasted celebrity clientele, reports the paper.

The Herald reports police suspect Oosterbrook had swallowed drugs, and police told the paper a white , powdery substance was found on his body. Results of tests on the substance are pending.
