N.H. Veteran May Be Romney's Most Devoted Supporter
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Mike Flathers of Salem, New Hampshire, is the embodiment of the Granite State's culture of engaging in presidential politics as a civic duty. Whenever Mitt Romney campaigns in the Granite State, I've come to look out for the man with the distinctive mustache and Navy baseball cap, who always seems to find a seat in the crowd.
Campaign reporters often complain about having to listen to the same stump speech again and again, but Flathers seems to never tire of Mitt Romney's spiel. A Navy veteran who served on a destroyer in Vietnam, Flathers racks up Romney campaign events like a Deadhead does concerts (he says he's been to 34 events).
I approached Flathers at a stop in Manchester to find out why he devotes so much of his time to politics and what it is he likes so much about Governor Romney.
