VERNON HILLS, Ill. (CBS/AP) Kristina Aksman, whose mother was found murdered last week, may be mentally impaired, and police say the 20-year old woman is missing and "endangered."
Marina Aksman, of Vernon Hills, Ill., was found beaten to death at home Thursday morning. Her daughter Kristina, and the daughter's 21-year-old boyfriend, Daniel Baker, have both been missing since the 50-year-old woman was found dead in her bedroom, and police want to question the pair.
Zimmerman says authorities believe the two left the area in the hours after the slaying was discovered. They say the pair are believed to be traveling together, and may be in Marina Aksman's 2009 silver Nissan Rogue with Illinois license plate 421 9607.
Kristina Aksman reportedly has physical and mental disabilities that require medication, says CBS affiliate WBBM-TV.
Police said Marina Aksman's murder appears to have been planned. "This wasn't a random act. The house was targeted," Sgt. Pat Zimmerman said.
Police arrived at the home around 5 a.m. Thursday after a report that a car had crashed into the front of the house. The car was registered to Barker's mother.Police believe the killer may have abandoned the car.
Aksman's husband apparently was at work at the time of the murder, police said.
Vernon Hills police and the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force are investigating.
