Missing La. woman's body found; ex-husband, 3 others arrested

BATON ROUGE, La. - The body of a missing Louisiana woman was found by officials in a heavily-wooded area and her ex-husband and three others have been arrested in connection with her death.

Multiple news outlets report 54-year-old Taherah Ghassemi, of Baton Rouge, who had been missing since April 11, was found in the St. Helena Parish on Saturday.

On Sunday, police arrested her husband, 64-year-old Hamid Ghassemi, along with 33-year-old Daniel Humberto Richter, 20-year-old Tyler Lee Ashpaugh and a 17-year-old boy in what authorities are calling a murder-for-hire plot.

CBS affiliate WAFB reports Richter once worked for Hamid Ghassemi and the other two suspects are associates of Richter.

"Looking into the eyes of the suspects, they were deep, dark and there was no remorse," said Col. Mike Edmonson, superintendent of Louisiana State Police.

Court records show that in February, Taherah Ghassemi received more than $1.1 million in a divorce settlement. Police found her car torched on April 12.

According to WAFB, Hamid Ghassemi faces charges of principal to first-degree murder, principal to second-degree kidnapping, solicitation for murder and principal to arson. The other three suspects all face charges of first-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping and arson.

It is unclear if the four men have lawyers.
