Missing Delaware County, Pa. 13-year-old found dead

PHILADELPHIA -- Family members say that an eighth-grader missing since last Wednesday, Cayman Naib, was found dead on Sunday, reports CBS Philly.

Naib, 13, was found near a creek on the family's property in Newtown Square, the district attorney's office confirmed. The teen was last seen on was last seen at his home on March 4 around 6:45 p.m., running out after receiving an email about a failing grade, his parents told the station.

In a statement on Facebook, the victim's family said that although they were "still processing and struggling" with the news -- they appreciated the help they received in searching for Naib.

"They would like to thank all of the thousands of people over the last five days - friends, family, community, law enforcement, local, county, and federal, search and rescue, fire departments, the school communities, especially Shipley and Episcopal Academy, and even perfect strangers - who have come together to support the family to find Cayman," the Facebook post read.

Naib attended the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr. The school reportedly hosted a memorial vigil at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Steve Piltch, the headmaster of the school, released a statement, remembering Naib as an "incredibly sharp and talented" person.

"Particularly adept from a technological perspective, he went out of his way to be of help to his friends and teachers when they had questions about technology," Piltch wrote. "His teachers and friends looked to him with respect and admiration."

The investigation into his death is ongoing, according to CBS Philly.
