NEW YORK (CBS) A video of teen superstar Miley Cyrus smoking from a bong surfaced online Friday.

In the video obtained by TMZ, Cyrus takes the bong to her face for a solid 8-10 seconds before saying, "Okay, I'm about to lose it now."

But what's in that bong? And is it illegal?

A source told TMZ that the bong does not contain marijuana, but instead is packed with the herb salvia, a controversial psychoactive plant that's cultivated for its psychedelic effects and is sold online.

In California - where the video was reportedly shot - salvia is legal, but numerous states have passed or are working on laws that outlaw the herb.

The video, which was reportedly shot at Cyrus' Los Angeles area home a few days after her 18th birthday in November, closes out with Cryus talking rapidly and saying, "I want more of that s**t, I swear."
