MIAMI Authorities say an outdoor deck behind a popular Miami-area sports bar has collapsed during the NBA Finals, sending dozens of patrons into the shallow waters of Biscayne Bay and critically injuring three people.
The Miami Herald reports that the accident occurred around 9:45 p.m. at Shucker's Bar & Grill as customers were watching the Miami Heat play the San Antonio Spurs.
CBS Station WFOR Miami reported that 100 people fell into the water, according to a Miami Fire Rescue spokesperson. About 24 were rescued and three were injured.
A hostess at Shucker's, Leah Masters, told CBS$ that people were on their feet cheering upon the Heat scoring a basket when the deck collapsed. She said some patrons jumped in the water to rescue those who had fallen.
CBS4 reported that the Coast Guard was summoned to save those in the water.
