Massive dust storm roars through Phoenix

(CBS/AP) - A massive dust storm ripped through Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday night. The huge dust cloud - also known as a haboob - was reportedly around 5,000-feet tall when it hit the city, grounding flights and causing power outages for thousands of people.

Check out the video and see the haboob in action for yourself.

According to local news station KSAZ-TV, the storm was roughly 50-miles wide when it roared through Phoenix. Flights in and out of Sky Harbor Airport were grounded for little over an hour.

A haboob, if you're curious, is basically a sudden, intense sandstorm that can occur in arid regions around the world. The word itself is Arabic, and hilarious, but as these videos make clear, they're no joke.
