(CBS News) It's called the seven minutes of terror: the time it will take the Mars rover Curiosity to land on the red planet. Those seven minutes will see the one-ton rover go from the vacuum of outer space to the surface of the planet. As you can probably imagine, it's an incredibly challenging mission to accomplish. NASA has a whole team devoted solely to what it calls EDL - entry, descent and landing. In this video, members of the EDL team describe how the Mars rover will survive (or not) the seven minutes of terror.
